Brahmatal Trek
Quick facts
Brahmatal is a lake in the depths of the Himalayas, in Uttrakhand. These steep valleys, coated with snow and covered with lovely oak trees, add to the beauty of this Brahmatal trek. It is believed that Lord Brahma meditated near that lake, and from here this name came. Furthermore, there are many ancient mystical stories about this lake related to Hindu mythology, which you can discover from the locals.
Best time to visit
The best time for Brahmatal Trek is the winter season (November–March). when the mountains are coated with snow, an alluring cold breeze drifts through meadows, and the steep and sloppy valley is covered with a beautiful forest of oak trees and dense, lavished red rhododendrons. Although most of this trek is spent in the forest, this decreases the chances of you getting vertigo.
Start your journey from the uphill city of Rishikesh, surrounded by soothing rivers.
The journey starts from Rishikesh, which you can reach by air or rail from Delhi. You can take a bus or taxi from Rishikesh railway station; the rest of the journey will be on road for about 210 km or 10 hours. This road trip will be as beautiful as you’ve imagined.
How to reach Rishikesh
You can reach Rishikesh station either by bus or train. If you’re thinking of traveling by train, then this station is connected with a few big cities, including Delhi, Lucknow, and Howrah. It is best to pre-book your ticket if you don’t want to miss your amazing adventure.
A stunning trail journey over the dazzling rivers Kali and Pindari
The Brahmatal Trek starts from Lohajung, which leads to a beautiful, calm forest that will take you to a small local village attached to it, Mandoli. This trail journey usually covers the steep and sloppy route of the rivers Kali and Pindari. Besides, in the winter season, the Kali Valley is flourished with the beautiful red rhododendron, leaving a slight texture of lovely red over the white snow. Furthermore, this path will lead you to Bekaltal, which is semi-frozen during the winter. This partially frozen lake will amaze you, and you can also camp in the evening near the bed of Lake Khopdaliya.
Feel the relaxing cold breeze while descending into the wondrous meadow.
This exciting trek from Bekaltal leads you to the dense and lovely forest of flourishing oak and lavish red rhododendron. This Telandi meadow is entirely coated with snow during the winter, amusing your senses with the cold breeze and its wonderful appearance. After descending from the peak of this meadow, you’ll see a temple near downhill with bright flags flying in the same flow of that sharp and cold air. From here, the trail will lead you to your final destination, the alluring Brahmatal Lake.

The path to Brahmatal Lake is as wonderful as it sounds, filled with snowy oaks and dense red rhododendron trees. Furthermore, the lake seems magnificent on a bright sunny day, and as you head forward, you’ll see the stream of melted snow. As you ascend further, you’ll be embraced by the effusive panorama view of Mt. Nanda Ghunti and Mt. Trishul.

Descent back to the base camp at Lohajung

Full Itinerary:
Day 1: Reach Lohajung
Lohajung is the base camp for the Brahmatal Trek. At Lohajung, you find yourself face-to-face with the beautiful Nanda Ghunti peak. There are a couple of local stores and dabbas in Lohajung. You will have mobile service at Lohajung.
Day 2: Lohajung to Bekaltal
The trek starts from Lohajung and is moderately difficult, with gradual ascents through forests on well-defined trails. The trail provided splendid views of Navali Bugyal and Bagdi Bugyal. The waters of Bekaltal are always brown. The brown water indicates a high amount of dissolved organic matter. We camp at Bekaltal and rest for the day in tents.
Day 3: Bekaltal to Brahmatal
a moderate-level day with an initial steep climb and then gradual ascend followed by gradual descent to Brahmatal. You get to see a spectacular panorama of Mt. Trishul and Mt. Nanda Ghunti. One can also see the famous meadows of the Rookkund Trail—Ali and Bedni Bugyals. You also go to Jhandi Top today, which is a vantage point with amazing views.
Day 4: Brahmatal to Khorurai via Brahmatal
Today will be the longest day of the trek, with moderate ascents and steep descents. All along, you will be treated to grand mountain views. After reaching the highest point and savouring the views, you descend down through a new route where we can get views of mountains such as Chaukhambha, Mandi, Mana, Nilgiri, Neelkanth, Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, and Maitoli.
Day 5: Khorurai to Lohajung
Descent back to the base camp at Lohajung
Day 6: Departure from Lohajung to Rishikesh
Morning 6:00 AM
Price Inclusion
For the duration of your trek, you will be staying in hotels and camps from day one until departure day.
Meals: From the first supper to the morning of the departure day, all meals are included. We offer easy, nutritious vegetarian food on all days of the trek.
Transportation: We will provide round-trip transportation from the pick-up point and drop-off point.
Camping fees: Both trekking permits and woodland camping fees are included in the price.
All of the camps will provide you with high-quality tents and sleeping bags for your trek. We have high-altitude sleeping bags that can withstand temperatures as low as -10 °C. Ropes, microspikes, and gaiters are all available.

Expenses for personal reasons: For instance, during the trek, personal bags must be transported.
